In September we hope to pay a visit to the Belgian city of Bruges. This beautiful city has been on our bucket list for a while, and I hope to get some great shots of the architecture of the city, plus lots of photos of the locals and visitors on the streets.

The medieval architecture in Bruges is mostly intact, making it one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe. The historic centre of Bruges has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. Famous buildings include the Belfry (from which the shot above was taken) and the Church of Our Lady (on the left here) whose 115.6m brick spire is though to be the world's second-highest. The sculpture Madonna and Child, which can be seen in the transept, is believed to be the only one of Michelangelo's sculptures to have left Italy within his lifetime.

Bruges was famous in past years for its lace and weaving, and in more recent years for brewing and as a major tourist attraction. I am expecting the streets to be full of activity, making for some good opportunities for street photography
